Research

Cells are protected from the external environment as well as compartmentalized by biological membranes. Proteins that reside in biological membranes function as receptors, channels, transporters and as hubs for cellular signaling. These membrane proteins are heavily implicated in disease conditions and are targeted by over 60% of currently available drugs. Our lab employs cryo electron microscopy coupled with biochemical and biophysical tools to understand the molecular mechanisms of membrane proteins.
